The 2008 New Orleans Piano Institute

The 2008 New Orleans International Piano Competition and Keyboard Festival


July 20 – 27, 2008    Loyola University

•  A week-long series of intensive study including private lessons and master classes
•  Special classes for Institute participants
•  An opportunity to perform in the Institute Showcase Recital
•  Auditions for a concerto performance with the New Orleans Civic Symphony
•  Each evening, Institute participants attend the competition rounds in which twelve of the world's finest pianists compete for $40,000 in prize money and performance fees.

2008 New Orleans Piano Institute Faculty

Constance Carroll has appeared as featured artist for more than ten different state music conventions and at MTNA national conventions. Her students include champions of local, regional, and national competitions.

Alan Chow has won First Prizes at the Concert Artists Guild International New York Competition, the UCLA International Piano Competition, the Palm Beach Invitational Piano Competition, and the Silver Medal and Audience Favorite Prize at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. Alan Chow currently serves on the piano faculty at Northwestern University.

Frank Heneghan recently retired from the Dublin Polytechnic Institute where he was Director of Cultural Affairs and managed its College of Music—has adjudicated, lectured, taught, and conducted master classes from the U.S. to Australia, from South Africa to Japan, and countless places in between including Eastern Europe and Russia.

Shearon Horton has presented lectures and masterclasses in Washington, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, and throughout Louisiana. She has held teaching positions at Tulane University, the University of New Orleans, and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her students have received local, regional, and national prizes.

Igor Resnianski is a prizewinner of many international piano competitions including New Orleans International Piano Competition, World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, First China International Piano Competition, and All-Russian Piano Competition. He is a much sought-after teacher, presenting master classes in the United States and abroad. For many years he has served on the faculty at the TCU/ Cliburn Piano Institute, now Piano Texas International Academy and Festival.
